Ishwara Dance & Yoga Academy
At IDYA,
Our yoga courses, designed by Sanmay Mukhopadhyay, focus on Pranayama, Dhyana, and Chakra balancing. Whether you are looking for disease management or a journey through the cosmic mandala, our programs align with classical dance and holistic health practices. He sees the classical dance and yoga as two flowers from the same tree.
ODISSI,
a classical dance form deeply rooted in the ancient Nritya Shastra, embodies the essence of mythology and storytelling through its intricate rhythmic patterns and expressive abhinaya (dramatics). This dance form seamlessly blends classical and folk dance traditions, using rhythm and acting to narrate stories that resonate with timeless myths. Beyond its aesthetic beauty, Odissi offers a profound sense of inner joy and contributes to wellness and mental health, as the harmonious movements and expressive storytelling foster a deep connection between the body, mind, and spirit.
YOGA,
deeply rooted in the Yoga Sutras, serves as a pathway to cosmic connectivity and inner harmony. Through the practice of asanas (postures), pranayama (breath control), and meditation, individuals can achieve inner peace and silence. These practices are not only vital for disease management but also for promoting holistic health, as outlined in Ayurveda. The integration of these elements supports overall mental health, making yoga a comprehensive approach to well-being, uniting body, mind, and spirit.
COMMONALITIES BETWEEN YOGA & ODISSI
Both Yoga and Odissi trace their origins to Vedic roots, emphasizing the mastery of breath, mindfulness, and meditation to delve into inner depths. They cultivate body awareness and foster a spiritual connection through balance and alignment. Mudras guide the energy flow, enhancing the union of body, mind, and spirit.
